Monday Evening Inspiration
I had to change the title of “Monday Morning Inspiration” to “Monday Evening Inspiration” because I didn’t get a chance to post to my blog this morning. My apologies to those of you who were waiting this morning. One of you very nicely told me that your day felt incomplete. :) Thanks for the support, and I hope you will enjoy the evening inspiration just as much. Just to warn you that it could happen again, but I will try my best. Always.
I always wonder why people are scared of wearing bright and bold colours. Is it the need to conform, or does it reflect an inhibited personality? Well, I’m not sure of the answer. It’s one of those things that always puzzles me.
This flower really attracted me because of its beautiful and bright hue.
Taking kids to desi movies
It seriously astounds me when desi parents take their children to see Bollywood movies that are completely inappropriate for young eyes. If the film is not designated ‘General viewing audience’ or it’s not specifically a children’s movie, then you should not be taking your kids to see it!
Films can have a lot of frightening or inappropriate scenes for young viewing eyes. Movies have a rating for a reason! Common sense might go a long way as well…use it.
Britain’s Got ‘Desi’ Talent
There is an enormous amount of desi talent out there, and one such dynamic duo appeared on the show “Britain’s Got Talent.”
The duo calls themselves “Dynamic” which is a very befitting name because they are definitely versatile, talented, and full of surprises.
Check out their audition dance - You will LOVE it!!! Goes to show you what two ordinary people with a dream can achieve.
Monday Morning Inspiration
Good Morning! It’s Monday morning and it is the last Monday in September. That means we’ll be welcoming October and all the pretty colours that go along with it very soon. As usual today, it’s time for some Monday Morning Inspiration.:)
Here’s a picture of my cat Baadal who never ceases to amaze me with all the cute things he does.
Anything new that arrives, Baadal must be the first one to inspect it. Here he’s got himself into a box in which a courier came.
Monster-in-Laws
Here’s that topic that married people love to discuss: Monster-in-laws. Well some of you might be blessed with in-laws that are loving, non-interfering, and positive, but the general desi experience or stereotype is that of in-laws from hell.
The most dreaded relationship is that of saas bahu (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law). It’s one relation that is super hyped in movies, television serials, and real life. Why is it that in desi culture we love to demonize this relationship? Is it doomed from the start, or is there a chance for it to be healthy and mutually loving?
Monday Morning Inspiration
Good Morning Everyone! I hope the weekend was fun for those of you that had it off. For those guys and gals that were slogging away over the weekend, make sure you get in a few hours for some rest and relaxation. It’s Monday, and that means it’s time for Monday Morning Inspiration!
On one of my relaxing outings around Toronto, I came across a cute little snail on a branch.
I actually came across him by accident. (I’ve decided it’s a boy because my cat is a boy. No slight against girl snails at all.)
The thought that came to my mind is that we can find really nice surprises in places that we never thought of. I wouldn’t have even noticed the snail, but I stopped for a minute and was looking at the leaves, and there he, okay “it”, was. The sight brought a smile to my face. The simple pleasures of life are so satisfying.
Memory Lane: Yeh Vaada Raha
For all of you desi movie fans that love great music and memorable films, this is one movie that you definitely must see! Yeh Vaada Raha is one of those movies that I never get tired of. It has a wonderful sound track and also includes the famous song “Tu hai wohi dil ne jise”. I absolutely adore this song and it’s one of my all time favourites! Asha Bhosle’s vocals are truly amazing.
The film was made in 1982 and stars Rishi Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, and Tina Munim as the lead actors. Vikram (Rishi Kapoor), a rich but down to earth kind of guy falls in love with Sunita (Poonam), a poor orphaned lady with a beautiful voice. They are happily in love and plan to get married. Vikram’s mother is dead set against the union for reasons of social status and misplaced pride.

I’m talking about the females in the music industry. They’re basically not there, except for Hadiqa Kiani and then the less commercial Fariha Pervaiz. The newest one to come on to the block is not just one, but a duo.
They go by the name Zeb & Haniya, otherwise known as Zebunnisa Bangash and Haniya Aslam. As their website www.zebandhaniya.com will tell you, the band is primarily based in Lahore, however travel to Islamabad and Karachi for their work. Zeb is from Peshawar (or somewhere in North-West Frontier Province) and Haniya’s hometown is Islamabad. They are first cousins.
Monday Morning Inspiration
Good Morning Everyone!
For the weekly Monday Morning Inspiration, I thought a motivating quote might be something we could all use to get us going for the week.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”

Sheer Desire: MAC Face and Body Foundation
I recently discovered a new cosmetic that I am enjoying. As we all know, that is rather difficult for me due to my overly sensitive skin and frequent allergic reactions. So when I find something that is an all rounder, I just jump for joy!
My latest discovery is in the form of foundation. The winner is Face and Body Foundation from MAC.
