Movie Review: Kismat Konnection

Shahid Kapur is back with his first offering post Jab We Met, and judging from the promos, I think we’re on our way to seeing a hit.

Vidya Balan is the leading lady and she’s looking fab with her new look. People are skeptical about the pairing because they’ve typecasted Vidya as a serious actress, but I beg to differ. She is a versatile actress who excels in any role that she does.

I think that Shahid and Vidya make a great pair and I’m looking forward to seeing them onscreen.

Kismat Konnection is the latest offering from director Aziz Mirza. He’s given us films like ‘Yes Boss’ and ‘Chalte Chalte’. He took a long break after his last film due to the death of his wife. Usually, Shahrukh Khan is the hero in his films, but the director thought that Shahrukh was too old for this role and wanted a younger actor. Kismat Konnection has the classic trademarks of an Aziz Mirza film: real characters, realistic script, and good music. The audience can easily relate to the characters in the movie.

Shahid is playing a young professional who just can’t seem to make it in his field. He’s an architect and was top of his class, yet his kismat seems to elude him. Vidya is playing a tough, no nonsense girl who has a heart of gold and an idealist outlook. Guess who’s also in the movie? Yes, that’s right…my all time favourite Juhi Chawla. She’s playing a fortune teller in the movie and I’m sure she’s going to provide the audience with some tummy tickling laughs.

The music is already creating waves on the charts which is another bonus to the ‘Kismat’ of the film.

What’s neat about this movie is that it was extensively shot in Toronto. Yup! Right here at home. It will be fun watching and pointing out during the movie, “Oh, I know where that is!”

I’m going to be watching this movie for sure. You can check it out at your local desi cinema…it’s Now Playing!

You can also check it out at your local western AMC cinemas, if you’d want to match a good movie with a good environment lol!
