Crazy about Bollywood
I was trying to think back to when I really started getting into Bollywood movies. It wasn’t that difficult to pin point that historic moment in time. As a child, I remember the occasional hindi movie here and there, but it’s when I was a teen that the craze really hit. In Toronto there weren’t any desi cinema’s in the 90’s (yeah yeah), but the movie ‘Darr’ (Fear) with Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Sunny Deol was being shown by some local promoter.
My family and I went to see it. Oh my God. Shahrukh Khan was playing the psycho bad guy in the movie, but he was so awesome! It was amazing! There is a scene where he is running away from the good guy, played by Sunny Deol, and I was like yelling ‘NO NO! Run away Shahrukh!”. That was it. The turning point in my emerging craze for Bollywood movies. Juhi Chawla looked so beautiful and the songs were great, with breathtaking locales. After seeing this movie, there was no turning back. I officially became a Bollywood movie junkie. I put up a huge poster of Shahrukh and Juhi in my bedroom. I just love watching Bollywood flicks!

I think as soon as I was born my parents took me to watch an Indian movie, “Chor machaye shor!”
So I’ve been hooked pretty much since then. Pretty entertaining site.
Look forward to reading more of your articles.
I think I’d have to stick with the “hooked since birth” too lol since I had a full surrounding of influence when it came to Bollywood…
I think you’re both right…hooked since birth due to your environment.:D
Some people try to hide it, but almost everyone has been surrounded by Bollywood/Lollywood (yeah right!). Some guys might try to avoid it, but there’s no turning your back.
Yes…it does have a huge influence.
